Major Corporate Milestone
January 2011: MMC-Gamuda Joint Venture received the official letter of award to inform that we were appointed as the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) for the development of the MRT, Mass Rapid Transit. As the PDP, MMC-Gamuda Joint Venture will assume responsibility for the delivery of the project within target cost and completion dates, as well as dividing works packages, calling for tenders on behalf of the Government, evaluating bids, selecting works package contractors and awarding contracts to works contractors on behalf of the Government.
March 2010: Acquired a 60% stake in Sai Gon Thuong Tin Tan Thang to develop Celadon City in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The 85ha master plan will feature a balanced mix of urban developments featuring medium-end and premium residential apartments, a sports complex and an education complex. Celadon City will also bring affordable luxurious living to the property market with its prime location and accessibility of being situated 9km from the Saigon city centre and 5km from Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Part of the development features a 15ha fully landscaped park with facilities designed to promote communal living.
January 8: MMC-Gamuda Joint Venture receives possession of the site and begins work on the Electrified Double Track Project, Ipoh to Padang Besar. The RM12.485 billion project involves the realignment and construction of electrified double rail tracks that span 329km across four northern states of Perak, Penang, Kedah, and Perlis in Peninsula Malaysia.
August 2007: Won the approval to develop the 800-acre Yen So Park in Hanoi, Vietnam. The project entails developing Vietnam’s largest modern sewage treatment plant, a world-class urban park, an integrated township and a premier business district.
This RM8 billion project is Gamuda first property foray into the international market. Yen So Park is a testament of Gamuda’s finest township development and infrastructure expertise in a single project.
June 2005: Began a joint venture with UEM Land to develop Horizon Hills, a mixed residential development complete with a 18-hole golf course in Bandar Nusajaya, Johor. Covering 1,200 acres, this project is the first property venture out of the Klang Valley for Gamuda. Horizon Hills is the first gated freehold community township with a designer golf course and country club in Johor.
Through our Gamuda-WCT joint venture, we were awarded the construction of the Dukhan Highway in Qatar by the Public Works Authorities of the State of Qatar. The project involves the construction of approximately 43km of new highway from the town of Shahaniya to the existing Zekreet interchange near the Dukhan industrial area. A four-lane dual carriageway with grade-separated interchanges will be constructed to replace the existing two-lane single carriageway. Included in the project are the construction of bridges and ancillary works.
Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir & Terowong Sdn Bhd (SMART Sdn Bhd), a 50% associate company of Gamuda, signed the Construction cum Concession Agreement with the Government of Malaysia for the implementation of the SMART Project. The SMART Project has a total construction cost of RM1.933 billion, which involves:
- the design, construction and commissioning of the stormwater channel
- the design, construction and commissioning of a double-deck motorway (Motorway); and
- a 40-year concession for SMART Sdn Bhd to operate and collect toll on the Motorway.
