Gamuda Quantity Surveyor (QS) Apprenticeship Programme
Reinforcing the Group’s skilled expertise needs in the fields of engineering and construction, Gamuda initiated the Quantity Surveyor (QS) Training and Apprenticeship Programme as part of its skills development programme in 1995.
To date, over 100 deserving QS trainees from six batches since 1995 have graduated from the full tuition fee sponsorship programme. Trainees for the current 7th QS intake in 2009 are expecting to graduate in 2013. Inclusive of the latest batch, Gamuda’s overall commitment to this programme totals RM12 million.
Taking the QS Apprenticeship Programme to greater heights, Gamuda collaborated with Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) College in 2009 to advance the programme to a four-year diploma course. The overall academic demands of the course is equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor's degree, and will be a crucial stepping stone for trainees who wish to further pursue an Advanced Diploma or Bachelor (Honours) degree from any local or private university.
Under the programme, trainees are provided the valuable opportunity to work full-time within the Group, while pursuing their tertiary studies on part-time basis.
