Gamuda Plant Operator School (GPOS)
As an extension of Gamuda’s commitment to create a pool of skilled workforce in the construction industry, the Gamuda Plant Operator School is currently Malaysia’s only non-profit crane and earth-moving plant training centre that is accredited by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) and the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC).
Founded in April 1997, GPOS is also the largest and only one-stop plant operation training centre in the country. Armed with the largest pool of registered and certified trainers in Malaysia, the centre conducts plant and heavy machinery training at its main premises in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, supported by various approved training centres in other major cities including Ipoh, Kuching, Bintulu and Kota Kinabalu.
With structured training modules benchmarked to industry best practices, certified graduates from GPOS are highly sought after in the construction industry for their knowledge on good safety practices, proper plant maintenance know-how and an in-depth understanding of heavy machinery operations.
To date, over RM30million has been invested in the training school that offers skills training in mobile, crawler and tower crane operation, crane safety inspection and lifting gears, slinging and rigging operations, excavator, bulldozer, wheel loader, backhoe loader operation, hands-on maintenance of construction machinery and scaffolding. In 2009, GPOS started offering additional courses in trade skills such as welding, bar-bending, and bricklaying to meet the needs of our construction market.
Apart from skills training, GPOS also delivers training and consultancy in environmental management and occupational safety and health. Since its inception, GPOS has today trained more than 30,000 skilled plant and heavy machinery operators.
