Gamuda penetrated the competitive
Taiwanese construction market with a bid
to build a section of Kaohsiung’s
mass rapid transit system.
The Kaohsiung Metropolitan Mass Rapid
Transit System CO4 is one of 11 civil
works packages along a 43km alignment
with 37 stations , running in a north-south
direction (Red Line) and east-west direction
(Orange Line) and intersecting in the
city centre.
Gamuda took on the construction of two
parallel underground tunnels 3.86km long,
two underground stations, the Fengshan
Junior High School and a 4-level Dadung
station. Especially challenging was tunnelling
works in the alignment’s soft soil
condition and the construction of the
Dadung station to be sited at the deepest
of the KMRT system at 28.3m beneath road
level. |
