Due to the extensive scale of most infrastructure projects or large township developments, negative environmental impacts are real and often times, inevitable. However, much of the impacts can be mitigated through proper planning and execution of works.
Stemming from our philosophy of responsible conduct, programs to mitigate or minimize adverse impacts, including inconvenience to our community and existing users, are mandated and standard operating practice.
Where possible, beyond mitigation, Gamuda also initiates environmental improvement programs to provide a higher level of environmental quality than is naturally available. This is especially evident where lakes and wetlands parks introduced into our residential developments have significantly enhanced the value and attractiveness of our developments.
The winning of many prestigious awards, locally and overseas, is an affirmation of the Group’s good environmentally-responsible practice.
Underpinning the Group’s health and safety policies, appropriate procedures to safeguard the health and safety of its employees, customers and visitors to its premises and others affected by its activities, have been adopted within each of the Group’s operations, with business heads responsible for their implementation, supported by the Group’s centralized Health & Safety Committee.
