Construction is the mainstay of Gamuda’s earnings and the heart of the Group’s activities. For the past 30 years our engineering and construction teams have realized the visions and aspirations of our clients and customers through our relentless focus on operational excellence and reliability in delivery.

Over the years, we have achieved a number of significant milestones as we help build Malaysia to its status of world class infrastructure. We have undertaken more than 40 major sized civil engineering projects and these have demonstrated our scope of expertise in the construction of marine ports and buildings, highways, airports, bridges, tunnels, water infrastructure and storm water management projects.

Leveraging on our breakthrough successes in Malaysia as well as banking on our financial strength and good track records, we first ventured into India in 2001 and secured two deferred payment projects: the Panagarh-Palsit Highway and the Durgapur Expressway, Dankuni-Palsit Section, in the State of West Bengal.

In 2002, we have also become the first Malaysian company to successfully penetrate the Taiwanese construction market when we, together with New Asia Construction & Development Corporation, Taiwan signed an agreement with Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation, Taiwan to undertake the Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) System Project, Orange line Package CO4.

We had in 2004 signed a Project Development Agreement (PDA) with the Government of Laos to develop the 450 MW Nam Theun 1 (NT1) hydropower project, located in Bolikhamsay province, central Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR).

In the Middle East, the Group has undertaken projects in Qatar and Bahrain. These include the Dukhan Highway from Shahaniya to Zekreet in Qatar, the new Doha International Airport and the Sitra Causeway Bridges in Bahrain.

We are focused on further enlarging our presence in international infrastructure construction in West Asia, India, Indo-China and the far east.
