Realising world class infrastructure quickly and efficiently is crucial to enabling the growth and competitiveness of cities in the region where the provision of necessary infrastructure often lags demand due to various constraints.

In this regard, Gamuda has been particularly successful as a builder of well designed, constructed and affordable infrastructure. Gamuda has been instrumental in leading the development of a range of privatized infrastructure projects worth US$3billion ranging from urban highways and flood mitigation to water treatment and hydropower.

Highways

Through its relevant associates, Gamuda either owns or maintains 230 km of urban and inter-city highways in Malaysia and India. In Malaysia, Gamuda, through the respective concession companies, operates 30 year or longer, concessions for the Shah Alam Expressway, Damansara Puchong Highway as well as the Sprint Highway, which are urban toll roads in the heart of the Klang Valley’s most dynamic economic corridor.

For the SMART tunnel in Kuala Lumpur, the group has a 40 year concession to operate and maintain the highway and storm-water tunnel for the Malaysian Government.

In India, Gamuda maintains 130km of highways in West Bengal under a 15 year finance, construct and maintain annuity payment concession with the National Highway Authority of India.

Water supply

Through its associate company SPLASH, Gamuda is one of the largest privatized water suppliers in the region with a total daily capacity of 2 billion liters per day.

Hydropower

Gamuda is the lead shareholder in the 450MW Nam Theun 1 hydropower project located in central Laos, which would supply 2,000 GWh of hydroelectric power to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand. The project is under the auspices of an inter-government agreement for Thailand to purchase 3,300 MW of power from Laos bringing much needed development to Laos while providing Thailand and Laos with clean, renewable electric power.
